This past fall we decided to finally make our formal living room my hubby’s office and a library/music area. This room is large and we have some great plans for it but first we needed some french doors so my man could work without hearing all the household noises. was our go to place for the french doors. We purchased two sets, unfinished and framed. If you follow me on Instagram (bloomingange) then you caught some pics of the action and even the finished product. The hubby did all the hard work of installing the doors, cutting out some drywall, fitting them in, installing the trim around the doors. I forgot to mention he did have some help.
For my part, I did the painting and let me tell you, 4 doors with 800 mullion windows took a long long time. Seriously, priming the doors and painting 3 coats of black paint was no easy task. I also had to convince the hubby that black doors would look amazing. Thanks to Pinterest it wasn’t too hard. Here are a few of my inspiration pics.

Just a reminder, here is how the entryway looked last fall after I did the cloffice and entryway along with painting the trim white. The formal living room was never being used (unless you count the kids using the couches for gymnastics) so I finally convinced the hubby to try it out as his office. He brought up his little desk from the dungeon and did a test run.
Here it is now with the french doors and a new paint color and much bigger desk for the hubby’s office.
The dining room has had a few changes, mainly the giant mothership boob light is gone and a new paint color on the walls. Still need some curtains in here. The french doors really give it such an elegant look, I love it!
As you can see, for a while we were using the oak door slabs from when we replaced our interior doors. This didn’t work very well, the french doors are much much better. The next few shots are from inside the office looking towards the dining room and the entryway.
I love, love, love these doors. They have added such an elegant look to our home. Thank you Lowes and handsome hubby!
