Family Room – Updated

I posted a few quick pics of our family room a few weeks ago but I’ve made a few changes since then. First off, I actually sort of did the mantle. The Martha Stewart Starburst mirror from Home Depot for $35 was one of my best purchases for this room, I love it! It makes me happy every time I look at the fireplace.  The frames were from the dollar section at Target and were 75% off, so for $1 I was able to frame these pictures that I photocopied out of a book I own.   The greenery is from IKEA and so are the pots they are sitting in.  Something with a bit more height would be better for this space but I really don’t want to head out and purchase more stuff I really don’t NEED, I’d rather work with what I have.  The mantle is definitely a struggle for me, I just don’t enjoy decorating this area, if you have any tips or suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Here’s my $5 Craigslist side table with my $5 lamp from Savers and my owl was a garage sale find for $4.  Gosh I love a good deal!

The $12 blue chair from Savers has made its way back into this room.  I just love this pillow from TJ Maxx it is so versatile, I originally had it in our master bedroom but for now it’s down here. Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be adding some different pillows to the family room.

is really a great gray color but it does have a slight green tone to it.  Even so, the space feels so calm and relaxing, I love it!  Soon I’ll share some pictures of this same color in the entryway where we don’t get as much natural light so you can see how different this color looks in different areas of my home.

Starting on Tuesday I will be participating in the Color My World Challenge with a group of really great bloggers. The challenge is to introduce a new color into your home via paint and fabric. I’m still a bit undecided but I am leaning towards a certain color that I struggle with so it should be interesting to say the least! Look for more news on that next week.

Finally, next week will be busy with blogging, I have many posts planned that are going to be a lot of fun. Also we will be celebrating TBH one year bloggiversary with a few giveaways! My children are on spring break for the next TEN days so my posts will be up but I may be a bit scarce around these parts and on facebook.   Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Happy Spring break!!! I think your mantle looks great. The prints and gold frames are so pretty. Funny how your paint reads greenish and mine is more blue. Love the lamp too. Your lving room is looking so good. The mantle is a struggle for me too. I’m hoping to get some projects done in here this weekend for our big challenge. (If I can get the hubs to help me and my injured hand get the stuff done :)

I’ve missed you. :( But I know you have a life. lol The room looks wonderful! I like the mantel. Funny though, it’s my favorite thing to decorate in my home. For me, I like to change things up for the season etc. Your mantel is not very deep, maybe that is why it is difficult for you? I don’t know, I’m not saying it needs to be bigger, just that you can’t put as many or big objects on it. ?? I think the smaller plants look fine and I adore the sunburst mirror. Personally, I would not have the photos over the mantel. I think the grouping of photos would look awesome over/above the awesome blue chair {not on the same wall as the mantel, the wall to the right of it, does that make sense?} Sometimes less is more, at least that’s what I’ve been doing lately. I just think the sunburst mirror could hold his/her own with the plants beside it. You definitely don’t need to do this, just putting my two cents in, for what it’s worth. The color turned out wonderful. I love Benjamin Moore paint! I can’t believe your kids Spring Break is 10 days long! Wow! Are y’all doing anything fun or out of the ordinary? When are you going to the beach again?
