You can catch up with my and I figured I would add one more post and then check back in January. My birthday was a few weeks ago and I enjoyed 2 gluten free cakes and also had some lovely gluten free lemon desserts. I definitely paid for all that sugar consumption, my face produced some monster cyst zits and I felt cranky and tired. I’ve been back to cleaner eating and I definitely feel better again.
The photo on the left is from today and the photo on the right is from Aug. 26th. You can see a definite change in my face being less puffy.
I wear the same clothes when I show my stomach as I think different pants fit differently. I can definitely notice a change in the way my pants fit, even in my calf muscle area. I have to wear a belt with these pants now so they don’t fall down as much.
One thing that’s been a struggle for me is that I don’t know if I am really sensitive to gluten or not. So I purposely ate some gluten the other day and felt fine. The next day, my stomach was seriously bloated and I had such horrible stomach pain I had to lay on the couch for a few hours. I was tired all day (granted I didn’t get much sleep the night before) and felt extremely blah. Now, I can’t say for sure this was from eating gluten, I certainly could have eaten something else that upset my stomach but I also can’t rule gluten out. So for now I have decided to continue eating gluten free and as healthy as I can, including trying to eliminate sugar as much as possible.
I haven’t been working out as much as I had hoped, one week I didn’t get to the gym at all, this past week I only got there once. I am really aiming for 3 times a week this winter to help combat the SAD.
Certainly there are still skeptical people that think this is all silliness and that’s ok. I know for me this is what I need to do as I’ve seen the results and so has my family. I don’t think everyone needs to be gluten free but I also think that it doesn’t hurt to evaluate what you’re eating and try to eat less refined and processed foods and aim for more fresh food, especially if you have skin or stomach issues. Your body is trying to tell you something and it’s our job to listen. The holidays are coming and it’s going to be interesting to see how this goes for the next few months. I’ll check back in again in January and by then hopefully I will also have had my second blood draw and see how my numbers are.
