Is everyone surviving this crazy weather in the US lately? Large amounts of snow, ice and freezing temps have got a lot of us really wishing for spring lately!
I have tried staying busy with projects and painting, it certainly helps me to have something to focus on and energizes me as well. A few weeks ago when Sherwin Williams had their 30% off paint sale, I picked up a few gallons of paint for our home. The entryway, kitchen and family room were really looking pretty gross after 3 years of abuse from kids, dogs and lots of visitors.
When picking out paint I decided to go a little darker in the entryway for some drama and also decided it would be a great time to add some picture frame moulding. The color is Sea Haze and is one darker than the Gray Owl. I used it in and mudroom as well. I like the way it reads during the day but at night it’s a little more green than I like.
My awesome husband did all this and he did such a great job! He still needs to go up the stairway with it but that involves moving the stair lights that were installed all crazy so we’re waiting for a free weekend to finish this up!
The cloffice was also in need of a change so I went with Amherst Gray stripes and I LOVE it! It was time to get rid of the stencil, it was fun but I was over it. I’m beginning to think my limit is 3 years on paint colors in my home.
I went with Gray Owl again for the kitchen/family room, the FIRST time I have ever purchased the same paint color to repaint a room. On a whim I thought maybe doing an accent wall on the fireplace might be fun. I only was this far when I changed my mind, it made the room shrink by about 5 feet and one of the things I love is how big, open and airy the room feels.
I really do love how light and bright this area of my home is, especially in the winter when the sun is shining! I quick snapped these pics this morning, I still need to decorate the living room, hopefully I can get around to that soon!
On a whim the other week I sold our kitchen table and chairs to a friend so I am on a hunt for a pedestal table like this:
Thankfully we have a dining room table that we usually eat dinner at every night and the kids love using the bar stools for breakfast and homework. So I can hold out for the table I really want instead of buying something because we need it now.
Besides painting we’ve been cross country skiing with the kids when the temps are in the 20’s and 30’s which has been fun. The kids seem to really enjoy it!
What have you been doing to survive the winter?
Ange,
Everything looks really great! Love, love the closet office – it’s so inviting and happy. And the black interior doors look fabulous. Lovely all around!
Thanks Kristie! We’re a work in progress here!
