Spring is coming and I’ve been fluffing my nest. After painting a few rooms in my home the next change for me was some furniture. I have rearranged this living room more than a few times lately and now I think I’ve finally figured out how I like it.
A few weeks ago at Target I picked up these ottomans on clearance, I’ve had my eye on these puppies for a while so I was super happy to put them in my cart and bring them home! We use them everyday and they are so light it makes it easy to haul them from the front living room to this one.
My thrift store artwork seemed to fit perfectly in this room for spring with the dresser I painted Water by SW last year. I made my pillows out of cloth napkins from TJ Maxx.
There are a few quirks to this room like the random outlet on the floor, the vent above the chairs, popcorn ceiling and next on my list is to change out the ceiling fan for different lighting. We don’t use the fan and I hate how it reflects in the mirror on my mantel. The eyeball lights in the ceiling weird me out but my hubby loves them, maybe that will change when we scrape the popcorn off the ceiling.
The other big change is our kitchen table. If you remember we had the rectangle table with blue chairs here. We have had this table since 2005 when it was all oak. I’ve painted it all black, stripped that, repainted it as it is currently in the photo and I think I was just ready for a change. Our family eats at the dining room table every night and so this table was more for when we had company and needed the extra space for kids.
I sold my table to a friend and picked up this one off CL a few weeks ago. I knew something a little smaller would work great here and it has a leaf to expand and fit more bums around the table. We love hosting so the more the merrier is always our motto!
After a couple coats of paint on the base and apron, she’s looking much cuter! I really don’t know what I’ll do for chairs, maybe paint these or sell them and buy something else. For now it works for us.
A cute rug under the table would also help break up all the oak action we have going on so if you find any good rug deals, send them my way!
After living with the white cabinet bottoms for a few months, I’m still glad I went white. I know gray and blue are all the rage right now and I did love my gray bottoms (lol) for a few years but the white is light and bright and I’m all about that.
The entryway with the trim is looking mighty fine too! Can’t wait for my man to finish up the stairway this weekend so I can blog about that soon.
And I can’t have a blog post without my doggies. After I snapped some pics, this is what happens.
The Schnauzy is doing ok, she has some good and bad days. With congestive heart failure I guess it’s hard for them to tell me how long she will live so I just snap pics of her and try to give her lots of love.
And I hope you can all see the dirty couch cushions! My home is pretty but it’s also real, there is dust on the side table, dirt on the couch cushions, a puke stain from the dog on the carpet, scratches in my floors, dirty dishes in the sink and laundry waiting to be put away. We live here, it’s not perfect but it’s perfect for us, home.
love, love, love! and would ya look at that mantel!? great work!
Well I think I was inspired by your mantel with my mirror last spring!
Thanks Stephanie!
