No Spend February Project List

Winter is really pounding us this year which shouldn’t be a surprise as I live in the mid-west.  So what better time to get some projects for the home knocked out then during No Spend February?  These are those annoying, half done projects that I don’t really like doing.  I thought I’d keep a list and see how much I can accomplish this month while I’m at home not spending money.  The hubby even added some things to his list as well.

Paint doors in the basement & bedrooms upstairs – I may do all the doors in our home black, they look great and don’t show dirt which I love!

Possibly paint the fireplace – still deciding on if I’m painting or not and if so what parts of it and what color.

Touch up Trim – My trim paint has held up so well with 4 kids, 2 dogs and hosting various parties, small groups and having visitors staying with us.   That being said, there are a few areas that need touching up, the mudroom area for instance where the baby gate is and the dogs sleep, along with kids kicking off boots in there.

Repaint the dining room chairs and table –

The chairs were originally cherry, then white, then a bad decision this summer to go emerald green, they really just aren’t jiving with the room so time for them to be repainted.  The table has seen much better days so I think we’ll sand the top down and re-stain it.  Good thing I have paint and stain in my basement already.  The downside, I don’t have fabric picked out for the chairs.

The stairway in the basement needs a light installed and the handrail painted.  Hoping to tackle both of those projects with the hubby’s help.

Hubby’s second job is to caulk the trim around the house, it would just finish everything off so nicely.

Recover my $7 tufted headboard find.

I found this beauty two falls ago and it’s still sitting in the basement waiting to shine it’s gorgeous self.  I have the original red velvet fabric ripped off and primed the frame and then just kind of left it.  So I’ll be working on that this month as well although I don’t have fabric for it picked out yet.  At least the frame would be painted and the batting on ready for fabric in March.

Put up bead board – either in the mudroom or our bathroom.  We have extra bead board laying around that I am itching to use!

Paint bathroom vanities in both kid bathrooms.

I have a bin full of photos all jumbled together and mixed up.  They aren’t in order, labeled, anything.  It’s bad.  Really bad.

Clean and organize  tool bench – This is all his job!

Retrieve old photos off of our old computer – once again, my man’s job.

Create a budget for our oldest daughter and finish reading .  You can find Mary’s website , blog and a Focus on the Family broadcast with Mary Hunt .

Here’s my list, not sure what I’ll accomplish this month but hoping to cross at least a few things off this list!  What about you?  When you are trapped in your house or can’t spend money, do you focus on projects or maybe read some books instead?
