Sexy Master Bedroom Week 1

It’s time!  Head over to say Hi to Linda at your one room for the 6 week challenge.  If you are unfamiliar with the ORC, 20 bloggers have 6 weeks to redo a room from the beginning to the end.  It’s pretty awesome and now it is open for anyone to link up their room and join in the fun!!!

I joined in last time and managed to redo the on the cheap!  It was a lot of fun and just the motivation I needed to get that room looking good!

I blogged the other day about the various  I’ve decided that although the room isn’t horrible, it’s just kind of blah.  I want our bedroom to feel sexy so I sat down with my man the other night and asked him to pin some bedrooms that he likes to a .  Then I pinned some as well, we compared rooms, came up with a plan.  I’m super excited to put some energy into our bedroom and create this space together.

Today, I snapped some pics after I made the bed.  I didn’t pretty up the room or clean up any mess, I took photos of it as it currently is.  This room has great potential, I love the flooring (Thank you Home Depot for cheap laminate), it gets lots of natural light, the wall color is good and there are good pieces but it needs to come together and create something better, something SEXY.

 

 

I may have done a little update last night to the room so I have to show you the window side taken at night with a flash.  Yuck.  Anyways, the blind in the middle is broken so it no longer goes up.  I hate those blinds anyways so I’m excited to get rid of them and am really happy already with what we did to the window.

 

 

Here’s what we came up with for the design plan for our new and improved Sexy Master Bedroom.

A dark wall – Urban Bronze, Iron Ore or something like that, kind of moody and not really black or brown or gray but a combo of all three colors.

A tufted headboard – This is still a maybe, as I love my brass headboard and footboard.  The tufted headboard seems a little more grown up, brings in more texture and of course is softer.

A chandelier – Yes, we are replacing our ceiling fan light fixture with a chandelier.  I’m sure Craigslist will be supplying this aspect of the room.  People are getting rid of brass and I’m buying it up!

Bedside Lighting – we are thinking wall sconces possibly in addition to the lamps, we’ll see.

Wall art – we want to bring in some rustic aspect, so maybe pallet framed photos or a mirror, along with some sexy bedroom art in gold of course.  Hobby Lobby has lots of great artwork right now that I just love!

Window Treatments – I am envisioning either dark or white curtains with some bamboo blinds.

Accessories – a must is a fun animal print furry blanket along with candles!  Also pillows for the bed!  And some fun flotaki rugs on the floor next the bed to step on in the morning!

Things I’m not sure about:

the bench at the end of the bed may go to another room otherwise it will get recovered if it stays.

the desk will stay and I am thinking about painting it.

the television.  Ugh.  I don’t really like tv in the bedroom and we don’t have cable, so why is it in here?  Because it was sitting on a dresser in what was my hubby’s office and then we rearranged everyone’s rooms and now the tv doesn’t have a home.  We only have two televisions in our home and really only use one.  So maybe we should sell it?  Put it in storage?  Just leave it for now?

our nightstands – to paint or not to paint?  Get rid of them and find other ones?  We’ll see.

I’m really thinking a chair might be a nice addition as well but then I don’t like a lot of furniture in the bedroom so we’ll see on that as well.
