Kitchen Update

You know the story of if you Give a Mouse a Cookie? Well that’s how it is at our house, if you give Angela a paint brush, chances are, she’ll find something to paint. So a few weeks ago after a great weekend with friends, we decided to bring up the Christmas tree. Easy enough….until we had to rearrange furniture in the living room to fit the tree which led to me painting over a patch job we had to do on the wall.

For some reason this led to me painting over the tile around the fireplace. I figured while I had the cabinet paint out, I could touch up the bottom cabinets in a few spots. Well that somehow led to me taking off the doors to sand them a bit on Monday morning which then made me think, why not repaint them another color?

(A reminder of the kitchen before I busted out my paint brush a few weeks ago.)

I was kind of tired of the gray/green and wanted something a little mroe flexible. The debate when on between charcoal and white but my heart really wanted white. This then led to me repainting the upper cabinets because while I had the white paint out, why not touch those up too? I never did a great job filling in where the old knob holes used to be so I fixed that. Then the paint between the bottom and top wasn’t really matching up which led to more frustration. After all that, I decided the chalkboard backsplash should go too.  So we are going on 3 weeks later and I am finally done. For now.  I need some styling and pops of color in here and this spring we’ll get the new counter tops and back splash done.  The old ones are dragging the kitchen down a bit and painting over the chalkboard backsplash has certainly lightened it up but maybe too much now.  We need some color in here!   (The photos below were taken rather quickly and on a gloomy day so not the best quality)

The other day I grabbed a few leftover planks of our bedroom flooring and tried them in the kitchen.  It was instant love.  Then Home Depot told me they discontinued this flooring. Womp Womp.  I was so excited for the .99 flooring so it’s back to the drawing board.  Boo.

So there’s the update for now for those of you that have been patiently waiting.  I’ll post a real updated kitchen post soon.   Thanks for stopping by!
