Monday, Monday. Here you are already after another great weekend. Poor Monday gets a bad rap, I mean really, who wants to follow up the weekend? It’s like having the best dessert ever, perhaps something like this
and then the next course is Brussel Sprouts.
Those brussel sprouts might taste good another time but after devouring chocolate cake, it’s just not going to be good.
Anyways, this Monday will be a chocolate cake Monday because the every lovely is the Blooming Blogger today! She has a great blog and a wonderful eye for things, along with just being a very fun and hip girl! I’m hoping we can meet up this summer when I’m down her way and maybe we can visit some of those fab thrift shops she shops at. I would even bring her some chocolate cake!
Without further ado, the chocolate cake of today, Lauren!
I’m so grateful to be included in Ange’s Blooming Blogger series! Isn’t she just the sweetest thing ever?? I want to know her energy secret…the girl literally moves mountains every day. Whew, she makes me tired!! I love what she’s doing here on her blog and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
My favorite room overhaul in our house is our powder room which you can read about . The befores are nothing short of alarming.
My readers know I’m not much of a DIYer, but I try sometimes!! I’m pretty good at copying. I have grown to love my first attempt at painting…I copied a vintage piece of Marimekko fabric that I saw in an antique store in my husband’s hometown.

How did your blog get its name?
I started blogging as a way to document all the hilarious things that my 15 month old was saying. I was spending all my time reading blogs, so I thought I might as well jump in…goodness knows I wasn’t going to scrapbook or journal. Obviously my blog is now centered around interior decorating, but I still enjoy sharing all the little funny things that Baylor says.
Favorite color right now?
I’m getting way into pink! I’ve never really been so much of a pink girl, but I find myself gravitating to it more and more recently. I think I have to thank for that. In fact, I have two amazing art ‘projects’ up my sleeve this week that include some of the first injections of pink into our home. Stay tuned!
Favorite place to shop for your home?
Well, my readers know I’m a certified ‘Junk Store Junkie’. I comb through estate sales, auctions, consignment and resale stores, and many many thrifts on pretty much a weekly basis! Truly, I’m obsessed. I believe it is very difficult to have a unique and special home if you limit yourself to big box stores. (Not to mention it’s waaay cheaper!) But just like everyone else, I’m a HomeGoods freak. I like to share my unique shopping finds on my .
What are you reading right now?
I just finished Jane Eyre for the first time ever. Can you believe that??? So great. I’m a bookaholic…not sure what I’m going to pick up next, any suggestions?
Do you follow design trends or just go with what you like in your home?
Yay, soapbox time! No, I kid-ish. I think ‘design trends’ is such a tough term here on the internet. We are so overwhelmed with images in blogland that we tend to think everything is trendy (e.g. Mid-century is not trendy! Hello, it’s been around for 60+ years and not going anywhere) and skip things we would love in our own homes. If you love sunburst mirrors and chevron, bring them to your home! Always always choose what you find beautiful.
What type of camera do you own and do you use it off auto mode?
I am in a sad state of affairs right now with my Canon Rebel T2i. I busted my regular lens and am working with only a mega-zoom. That does not make for easy picture taking! But, yes, I have taken some baby steps into manual mode and I just fool around with it until my pictures are light enough. I really hope to learn more and more as I go.
How did you meet your husband?
My darling husband met ME at a bar (classy!) my freshman year of college…unbeknownst to me, he’d told someone when I walked in that he would marry me one day. 4 years later, we’d been dating a year and just gotten engaged when I met his friend from that first night who told me the whole story. I was blown away!! We’ve been married 13 years now.
Thanks so much Ange!! XOXO
Thank you Lauren for answering some fun questions and showing us your lovely home! Alright girls, what have you read lately that you would recommend to your girlfriends? Lauren and I both want to hear because we need some more reading material. I’m sure my husband would thank you as well because if I have my nose stuck in a book it means I’m not painting, scheming up a way to get lighting in the dining room or planning more projects which leads to spending money.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Lauren. She makes life sound so fun. I love her blog and love all the different things she has done in her home. The little sayings of Baylor just add a spark to everyday.
Love her home, thanks for introducing another great new (to me) blog!
Oh Ange, you are the SWEETEST!! I'm super super thrilled that you included little old me in your fun series. Thanks doll!
Now ladies, bring on the book suggestions please.
You are so kind! Thanks for such an amazing comment, wow. I try to keep things fun and 'real life'.
Thanks Jenny, now I can't wait to discover yours, yay! Your baby handprint box is AMAZING, wow.
ooooh i am saving this so i cam come back tonight when i have more time- i NEED to see that bathroom!
Love reading too about Lauren and am so thankful you introduced me to her awhile back! Great series Ange!!
What a fun little series, and Lauren seems fun, too!
Lauren, I just finished a book called The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. It was a mystery set in WWII and it was one of the best books ever. What genre do you generally like?
Thanks Cassie!! I'm crazy about my little powder room, even a year later…sometimes we just wander in there to check it out.
Is it weird to love a hand towel so much? Ooo emm gee I love that west elm towel.
Ooooh…I have not read many WWII novels. I pretty much like everything, not so much vampire oriented or chick lit however. I used to say that I didn't do mysteries, but I've dipped my toes in lately and am digging it! I will definitely check that one out. Thanks!!
Me too Andrea!! LOVE connecting with other bloggers. XOXO
