It’s Monday and you know what that means, right? It’s time for another Blooming Blogger. Today I want to welcome Kristy from . Kristy just recently moved so I’m thankful for her taking time to come over and pay us a visit during this busy time in her life. I found Kristy’s blog a few months ago and I was glad I did. She has done some fabulous things, like which turned out fabulous! Not only does she have a great eye for design but she is really thoughtful and sincere. I have loved talking via email with her. Take it away Kristy!
Thanks so much for including me in your Blooming Blogger series! I am so happy to have met Ange. She’s so sweet and genuine. Oh, I’m Kristy from , a small design blog. She said I had to show a photo. I hate taking photos – I feel so not photogenic. But, here goes!
As I write this, my husband and I literally just got back from a downtown Segway tour of Austin for my birthday! So, here we are on Segways.
And, a little closer up at the , where we stopped to warm up. Yep, that’s a borrowed jacket that I’m wearing. I thought I would be fine in a t-shirt. Told you, not the best with photos. It’s a shame only the cow’s booty is showing. We kind of blocked the head. Oops. And, well, yes, that is helmet hair!!
But, the Segway tour was fun, nonetheless! And, I just officially turned 36! Wow, upper 30s. Nuts!
You may be tempted to visit my for a better photo, but I assure you, it’s not that much better. One of these days, I’ll break out the old wallet and get professional photos taken!
How did you chose the name of your blog and does it have any special meaning?
Hyphen Interiors is a name that represents my design business. I never want it to be a design by me and reflecting only me… I want it to be a joint effort that reflects the client’s taste. So, I chose the name “Hyphen” interiors to show it’s a hyphenated effort.

How long have you been blogging?
I will celebrate my one year bloggiversary on February 23rd. When I started my blog I had literally had no idea what I was doing and still barely do. I barely read blogs and didn’t know what a link party was nor did I have any clue how formatting things and all worked. But, nonetheless, I was looking for an outlet to share my love of design so that maybe I wouldn’t bore my husband talk about it quite as constantly.

Where do you find inspiration when working on a room or project?
My favorite designers include Kelly Wearstler, Jonathan Adler and Sarah Richardson. Pinterest, magazines, other blogs, when watching tv or walking down the street. Everywhere. But, seriously, other blogs and Pinterest really have served to be a source of inspiration. If you are not looking at them at least once every few weeks, you should! You can find me on Pinterest . Shh, another crazy looking picture of me is on there… Just a warning.

Do you have any New Years Resolutions?
I am fairly unconventional with a lot of things including this. I don’t think I’ve ever made a New Year’s Resolution. Weird, huh? I don’t like set days for things like that. And, I rebel against such things, even Valentine’s Day… I hate baby and wedding showers… didn’t grow up planning for my future wedding… Just a little quirky, I guess. But, I do like to set goals periodically throughout the year, some being almost every present and others being more precise. For example, a goal would be to find a home to buy in Austin and move in! We’re in a rental now, as we sold our home in Phoenix and just moved here one month ago exactly. Another goal would be to get family out here to do some diy projects with me as I have always lived too far away to do any with them. I’d also like to continue to learn to use my new dslr camera better. A more resolution-like goal, is to be more positive, even on a bad day. And, though not a goal, I’d love to find a partner in crime here when it comes to practical jokes! That’s a few resolutions or goals that are swimming around in my head at the moment.

Favorite color for using in your home right now?
Well, if you go check out the tour of my home, you’d probably agree with me – blue. Tealish/ tuquoisish (I know, not a real word) type tones of blue. I love blue and green right now. Who knows how long that will last, though, right? My taste is ever changing. I also love pink. But, I’m only allowed to have it in my office – the hubby is not a fan!

Do you have one room or house goal you are for sure doing in 2012?
Hard to say since I am in a temporary rental. Okay, truth is, my goal in the next few weeks is to hang my curtains here! We just moved from Phoenix and the windows are still naked. At least I’m mostly unpacked! Otherwise, I’ll have to wait until we have a home that we are buying before I really have a good feel for room goals. I refuse to buy anything new or devote too much time to rooms while in a temporary rental. Instead, I’ll just use what I have and get it set up. So, I guess another room goal for the rental is to get the guest bedroom set up. It’s not yet…

Share your favorite room that you’ve completed recently?
My favorite room was possibly my craft room/ office in my last house. However, I really loved my husband’s office with all of the built-ins. And, I loved the family room. Hard to choose just one. But, as far as a certain cheerfulness and also a large room, I’d say my craft room/ office. I do miss it. It’s a much smaller space here and in all the homes we are looking at to buy. But, the room I will miss most and also loved is the laundry room. It was huge (20×6.5) and had a fun stencil!

Favorite place to find things for your home?
Depends on what it is, of course. But, I love unique little shops and lucky me, Austin has a ton of them! These shops have those pieces that not everyone will have in their home. If I don’t mind others having a similar piece, I tend to try websites like Overstock.com and HomeDecorators.com and I love TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and Ross!
