Last week I posted my choice for the Color My World Challenge, chartreuse.
If I had only known what a “challenge” this would be I think I would’ve picked a more common color. I scoured stores and thrift stores, ebay and etsy trying to find me some chartreuse decor. Apparently no one knows it’s called chartreuse or no one wants to make chartreuse decor.
Friday night the hubs and I spent a good hour of the first part of date night looking for chartreuse anything, at this point it could have been a statue of a peeing leprechaun for $56 and we would’ve bought it. Thankfully it didn’t come to that, although I do really like leprechauns.
We came up with this bird candle, a vase and some flowers. I’m looking forward to the next two weeks where I can create something using fabric and paint which will cost less than decor and I can be a bit more original. Instead of the family room I’ve decided to add these colors into the dining room because it is looking kind of sad in here, the flowers and vase really brighten things up!
This is inspiring me to get the dining room together a little more. Today I added some rub n buff to the drawer handles on the buffet/dresser. The picture doesn’t show the difference as much but let me tell you, they are looking good in gold!
Hopefully over the next two weeks you’ll get more than just a glimpse. The dining room is technically in the front or formal living room (again). So what do you think? Is chartreuse a color you would use in your home? Did I fail in the decor department?
Don’t forget you can join us and link up at the full reveal party on May 1st.
Until then, check out what everyone else has done this week with decor and their color!
Love that color with your navy buffet! Look’n good!
Love the chartruese and the color of that side table!
i was going to say exactly what the others had said- the chartreuse with that blue is outstanding! i LOVE the combo!!!!!
No way! You are doing a great job, it is not easy at all to use color so I say you get an A for sure. You pull things together so well and your not done. Work in progress!
Hey why don’t you do a post on how you are painting your trim and take pictures of the process so I can show my hubby
Love the items you found and love the colors all together! We actually have a fair bit of chartreuse in our house. My husband likes blue and I like yellow and orange, so bright green is kind of our decor compromise color. As a result I am seriously jealous of that bird and vase!
I think you did an awesome job with that color Ange and it is the perfect accent in your dining room! LOL about the leprechaun!
Vanessa
I love the little bird and the vase. Flowers are a natural way to bring in chartreuse! Good thinking! I can already tell that this color combo is going to be awesome!
i love the little pops of chartreuse with your blue. and heavens, i love your buffet. can’t wait to see more of your dining room transformation. that’s the room i’m starting to work on these days.
I love the chartreuse and blue combo. The flowers are beautiful. I’m loving your buffet and lamp too. I want to see more of your dining room!
I think you picked well, Ange. This is supposed to be a challenge and you will show others how to work their way through something that might appear difficult initially. The color is stunning in those flowers against the blue buffet.
I like it! I actually have a fair amount of chartreuse in my house. I think it looks great against the blue of the sideboard.
Looking good! Love this color and you definitely more than passed, no fail here!! I like it with the blue!
No you didn’t fail! I love the pop of that bright and cheery green!! I think this would be a great color to bring into the house in the form of cuttings from the yard!
Chartreuse looks so great in there! Isn’t it amazing how adding a fun color just brightens everything up?! And, your comment about the peeing leprechaun was hilarious
I love it, lady! That really is a tough color…you can pretty much only find it when you’re not looking for it! (c: I love the cheery little pop that it adds to the dining room, especially your little bird friend (c:
The chartreuse actually looks so natural and at home in your house! It doesn’t feel like it was a challenge and out-of-place, so I think you nailed it!
Great color choice – perfect accent. LOVE it, Ange! LOL at your peeing leprechaun!
I feel like whenever I’m “looking” for a certain something I can’t find it anywhere and then when I’m not looking things just hit me on the head!
I LOVE the combo with that blue! It really is such a fun color!
Yes chartreuse is not a easy color… but they don’t call it a challenge for nothing! I love the bird, and the vase! Great finds for being on a time line… but I would love to see a peeing leprechaun!
i think you did a fabulous job! Chartreuse is such a happy color. It goes great with the blue in your sideboard too!
Love it! Accessories are always the way to go! XOXO
So I’m back. I was just perusing Westelm.com and saw this:
It’s specifically called CHARTREUSE!
I think it’s a fun color — maybe not in large quantities, but you’ve got just the right amount.
The color works well with your dining decor!
You’ve officially been blog-stalked by me! Hope you’re not too creeped out :). Newest follower, hope you’ll stop by my way!
Loving the color palette! The art is to die for!
NO WAY! I use the lime green in my home as accents. I was admiring the vase. I love the pop of color it brings. Everything looks magical my wonderful friend. You always amaze me at ALL you get done! …truly an inspiration for all of us. Hugs!
