Kids Bathroom Week 2

It’s week two of the One Room Challenge and it’s fun to see the different stages the bloggers are in, some are in full demo mode, some still settling on a plan or picking out fabric and paint.  You can see my week one post here.  I am prettying up this orangestrosity of a bathroom.  Seriously, this thing is glowing and not in a good way.

I’m not doing any demolition to the bathroom all though a new vanity and floor tile would be fabulous, it’s the kids bathroom and I have plans to spend my money elsewhere, like on new counter tops and flooring on the main floor.  Last week, I didn’t have a set plan and guess what, I still don’t have one this week.  BUT, I did accomplish a few things in the room, thanks to a sale at Menards and my handy hubby. I also found this can of $4 oops paint while we were there so I picked it up and thought if it sucks, it is only $4, we spend that at Cold Stone Creamery for one dish of deliciousness.

After priming over the orange walls, we (ok, not we) hubby installed bead board on all the walls.  I originally thought of doing board and batten but decided to kick it old school with sheets of bead board.  I want a nice chunky and think board to top it off so we still need to do that.  I am also trying to decide on a shower curtain.  I don’t really love any of these so not sure what I’ll do.  Trying to design a bathroom for a 9 year old girl and 5 year old boy is a definite challenge.  I can’t go to boyish or girly in here but also don’t want it to be very kiddish either but not too grown up.    Who knows, next week the walls might be a different color all together with a completely different shower curtain.  So far I’ve invested $4 into the paint and maybe $35 in bead board.  There’s still time to go with a different plan all together!  Which shower curtain is your favorite?  There was a clear favorite on the Inspiring Hearts & Homes  the other day.

You can head over to to see the other participants like myself who are playing along and linking up.  Don’t forget to check out all the amazing bloggers who are participating in the One Room Challenge!
