After painting the family room, kitchen and entry way l this week, I thought maybe it was time to allow Ektorp back in to the family room. She had been banished to the basement for a while but I was missing her whiteness in my life. It also helps that I found an extra slipcover for the couch for $25 at IKEA a few months ago. Let’s just say, blue sharpie marker and a dog in heat have done some damage to the slipcovers. Who wants to sit on my couch?
Here are the 376 ways I rearranged this room yesterday in between blowing my nose and running to the store to buy more tissues. Ruby found it helpful to sit on the loveseat which was conveniently located by the patio door. She thought it was a good placement of furniture for her.

And here is a pic with the leather couple. The room feels very closed in to me and a bit overwhelming.
There you have it folks, musical furniture Friday fun. What do you think, have a favorite or maybe a new idea for me to try? I’m all ears! Although the black dresser and tv can NOT be moved as we put two holes in the wall to hide the cords and Mr. Blooming would not be very happy with me you if I suggested we move them. Don’t forget you can also find me guest posting over at the fabulous Cassie’s blog today, .
Have you played musical furniture lately? Please tell me I’m not the only one who rearranges every two weeks. Please? You can lie, I won’t tell, promise.
#4 definitely! i love the white chairs paired together like that! thanks for an awesome gust post- happy friday!
i like the look of #4 too
but will your family be comfortable
watching tv that way?
i know comfortable tv viewing
is sadly
one of my own considerations
in furniture arrangement!

LOVE the furniture white. I really like #4 layout the best.
I like #4 too!
I'm liking 2, 4, or 5. Those feel the most open. What a great way to get exercise! I guess I should just move large pieces of furniture around!
I am dying, just dying about how much I love this room Ange! The wall color with the white furniture, the patterned curtains and the pops of red – I am in complete adoration. I want to live in your house. Can the five of us and our very teeny tiny dog move in? Please? We'll be really quiet.

I'm a number 5 fan!
I think you should move that dresser and tv.
My husband hates when people suggest ridiculous things on the blog. I'm just hear to help you out. Do you move the furniture or does he help?
I actually don't move furniture. I change everything else. Don't give me bad ideas.
WOW, your coming to my house! I had to look at all of the options several times…you were a busy bee! I think I like #5 because the kids will probably sit on the couch a lot. Also I like how the chairs are across from each other for conversation.
You are doing an amazing job and I love your creativity! I wonder how it looks this morning, hehe!!
Love the wall color and that you move things around to get it figured out…I do it all of the time too! That said #4 & #5 are my faves. On #5 do you have the room to pull the other white chair next to the fireplace on the other end of the sofa and move the bookcase to the opposite side of the fp? That could make for optimal TV viewing!
Cathy
I vote for #4. Why is moving furniture around so much fun?
Well – maybe not the actual MOVING, but the playing with furniture?
I like # 2 and # four!
I love your white sofas and chairs, pretty!
I love #5! Comfy for tv viewing but yet still semi formal looking! Have you tried the couch under the windows and the 2 chairs side by side (like a big L)?
I love playing musical furniture! Unfortunately they always seem to end up back where they started but at least I get it out of my system. LOL! I like the look of #4 but wonder if that is idea for TV viewing which is super important in my book. What about the couch facing the TV wall and the chairs next to each other facing the fireplace??? Just a thought and I sure do love the white furniture in there!

This looks like something I would do. I would have liked the chairs together but taking into consideration the dresser and tv are not moving and you need seats to watch tv I would say #1. And you have the black – and-white balance on both sides of the room while the angled chair marks out the room, there is a flow. The room is not closed off entirely.
Hi Ange,
I like # 5 the best.
Dee
I like #1 , which one did you decide?
Debbie
I like #5 best, but maybe bring the chairs together and in a little more (sort of in front of the tv table)
Ooh, I play that game ALL the time
I love Gray Owl – are you loving it? I think I like #4 best. It might look better with a wood sofa/console table behind the white sofa. And maybe a different smaller chair next to the t.v. with some kind of pattern/color. Hmmm, actually what if you switch the sofa and chairs with table in-between in the #4 scenario? So the sofa is centered in front of the window and the chairs face the fireplace side-by-side? I think I'd like that even better! Fun post
5 really opens up the room
XOXO

My fav. is #2.
I rearrange furniture all the time! My partnter is legally blind… he doesn't understand! LOL And I see you have a poodle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah! I share my life with two gorgeous standard poodles currently.

I'm a notorious furniture mover. My favorite is doing it when the hubby isn't home and seeing how long it takes for him to notice. I like 4 and 5. They seem the most comfortable in the room.
I like #5.
The black furniture felt very dark to me. I used to rearrange my room regularly… and my husband and I laughed because this summer was the first summer in four years that we didn't move, but we did rearrange the living room and den. I like new things and trying to find "better" arrangements of everything. I rearranged my kitchen a little while ago and I'm contemplating changes in the girls' room…
Who needs to go to the gym when you have furniture to move? I vote for 2 because I like the symmetry of the chairs next to the dresser/console as well as the open feeling. Not sure if this is ideal for TV viewing. If that is a big issue, I say 4. Your room is looking great with the white furniture! Are you able to keep it pretty clean with the kids and dog? I love the look of slipcovered white couches, but I'm scared!
Another vote for #4, I just love the two smaller chairs together! Such a difference with the white sofas rather than the leather! I think with summer months coming, a lovely white room is rather fresh & fabulous!
