Good Morning friends! I hope you are all doing well this morning. My heart, prayers and thoughts are with those who suffered losses in the severe weather yesterday, especially those in Joplin, MO. How devastating! Thankfully we left later than originally planned so we were in a safe location during the storms.
We had a great time this weekend house hunting! In all we looked at eleven houses but only two were real contenders. And wouldn’t you know, my camera battery died after one photo! So unfortunately I don’t have many photos to show you. Boo.
The first house we looked at was our favorite house, it was beyond beautiful!!! We loved it when we saw it online and we loved it even more in person. The kids were with us and they loved it as well. Inside there is a lot of beautiful white crown molding and picture molding, hardwood floors, six panel doors, a beautiful kitchen, fireplaces,a main floor office and laundry room. The basement has a family room, bathroom, workshop area and one bedroom. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The backyard has a gazebo, deck and patio with beautiful landscaping. The neighborhood has wonderful mature trees and well kept homes. Here is the outside:
Our second favorite house is quite different than the first one. It was in a newer subdivision, has the traditional honey oak trim and lacked the character of the first house. But it had some things we liked as well like a big fenced in backyard, two bedrooms in the basement with a bathroom, walk out family room and office area for my hubby. The main floor has a nice open kitchen and family room area with a fireplace and a walk out deck. Upstairs are three bedrooms with two bathrooms. The house is on a street that ends in a cul de sac and has a lot of nice looking homes as well. Here is the outside:
So to make a long story short, we loved loved loved house number one. Like wipe the drool off our faces type of love. The drawbacks were the price and somewhat the location. We went to the real estate office, typed up offers on both houses and then submitted an offer on house number one. While we were writing the offer I felt sick to my stomach, anxious and just knew in my heart that something wasn’t right about the whole thing. After we left, I told hubby that I was hoping they rejected our offer. He said he felt the same way and we decided to pull our offer on house number one. We still are not quite sure why but we just didn’t feel right about it. We then submitted our offer on house number two and within three hours we had it accepted! WOO HOO!
Sunday morning hubby was awake earlier than usual and had a little bit of a freak out about the house. He couldn’t remember a lot of the details because it was number six on the tour of eleven houses. He was thinking we maybe had made a big mistake. We called our realtor and scheduled another showing on our house. After walking through again we both felt a lot better about our house. Here are a few pictures of the outside from yesterday with green grass. The backyard photos were taken from the master bedroom inside so there is a slight glare.
Here are a few inside photos.
As soon as we move at the end of June, I will post more pictures. Sorry I didn’t have more pictures to share from this weekend but it was a crazy time but so fun! If I could chose a career I would seriously think about becoming a real estate agent! Hope you had a great weekend, I’ll be posting later this week my old school bathroom that I really do love!
Congratulations, Ange! Your post reminds me of one of my favorite shows, House Hunters! I really believe that listening to your gut feeling is important and I love the house you chose. The backyard looks fantastic and I love how open the kitchen and family rooms are. Love the ceilings as well…does that sound nuts!!
I can't wait to see more once you move in!
Awesome Ange! I am so glad you found a home you will love!
Love your new home! How exciting for you and your family. It all has happened so quickly that I bet your not sure if you are coming or going. Can't wait to see all the pictures and to see what you are going to do with the house. Gald your joining me with all oak trim throughout the house. Will you keep it all oak or will you change it out to white, just curious.
Glad you were safe with all the storms going on. Have a great week!!
I highly recommend taking as many pictures as you can before you move in. My hubby did a great job at that because I couldn't remember a lot of the details and so I was able to go back to the pictures and look – even plan where I would put everything before we moved in!
Looks like a beautiful home!

Organizing Made Fun
How exciting. I always listen to my inner voice…it usually leads me in the right direction. If you both were feeling weird about the first house, even if you couldn't figure out why, you just don't do it. I can't wait to see more pictures.
Hey Ange, would be a great real-estate agent! Something I've always thought I'd enjoy being one also!
The house you chose is very family friendly and looks a lot like the house you built in Marshfield actually…from the pics anyway. Don't know what to tell you about the oak as I suffer with the same problem….trim throughout the entire house…where do you begin? I still don't like the look of them after 5 years of living here, but a small detail if you think of the whole big picture. Looks like you made the right choice…awesome that it has a office space for Alex.
